Perfume Packaging

Packaging carries most of the perceived value of a fragrance, and it also carries mandatory product information. Both aspects are coordinated alongside product development so the finished item is coherent and compliant.

Perfume packaging components: clear glass flacon, burgundy cap, label sheet and ivory carton

What does perfume packaging include?

Perfume packaging includes the primary packaging in contact with the product — bottle, pump and closure — and the secondary packaging around it: cap, label, carton and any finishing. It also carries the product information required on the market where the perfume is sold.

Packaging elements

  • Bottle: shape, glass weight, volume and finish
  • Pump and closure: spray behaviour and fit
  • Cap: material, weight and finish
  • Label: design, material and printed information
  • Secondary packaging: carton, insert and finishing

Labeling and product information

Depending on the product and market requirements, labeling may need to carry information such as the ingredient list in INCI nomenclature, declarable fragrance allergens, nominal content, batch identification and the responsible person's details. These requirements are considered together with the design.
