OEM & ODM Perfume Manufacturing
OEM and ODM describe who owns the design of the product. Both are common in fragrance, and many projects sit somewhere between the two.
What is the difference between OEM and ODM perfume manufacturing?
In an OEM model the client supplies the product specification or formula and the manufacturer produces it. In an ODM model the manufacturer develops the product — fragrance, format and often packaging — and the client brands and sells it. AROMA NOVA supports both models.
OEM and ODM compared
| OEM | ODM | |
|---|---|---|
| Product design | Client-owned | Developed by the manufacturer |
| Fragrance | Supplied or specified by the client | Selected or created by the manufacturer |
| Typical client | Brands with an existing product definition | Brands wanting a faster route to market |
| Development effort for the client | Higher | Lower |
Which model fits your project
If you already hold a formula and a defined specification, an OEM engagement is usually the most direct route. If you have a brand and a market but no product definition yet, an ODM engagement lets development start from our existing fragrance portfolio and manufacturing know-how.
